Charge Controllers
MPPT Charge Controllers
An MPPT charge controller that tracks the panel's most efficient operating point; used with the 60 A TommaTech S series for 12, 24 and 48 V battery systems in vineyard houses, caravans and boats.
MPPT charge control
MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) is a tracking algorithm that keeps the panel operating at its highest power point under all conditions. When the panel voltage is higher than the battery voltage, it can increase the charging current by converting the voltage difference into current. The 60 A TommaTech S series model in the catalog is offered to work in 12, 24 and 48 V systems.
Advantages
- The flexibility to use higher-voltage panel strings
- The aim of better efficiency in cloudy conditions or low light in the morning and evening
- Reducing current loss over long cable distances
Selection criteria
- Current and power: The 60 A charging current, multiplied by the battery voltage, gives the maximum panel power calculated.
- Panel voltage: The open-circuit voltage of the string must not exceed the device's input limit.
- Battery type: The charging profile must be adjustable for a lithium battery.
- Installation: The device is mounted in a cool, ventilated place, keeping battery and panel cable lengths short.
In Antalya
In summer at high irradiation, panel voltage drops with temperature, and on cold winter mornings it rises. The string should be designed so that the MPPT device operates within this range.
