Trapezoidal and sandwich roof systems

Selection criteria

• Roof material: Single-skin trapezoidal sheet and sandwich panel have different load-bearing capacity.
• Connection method: The choice of anchor (screw) or rivet is made according to the roof structure and the manufacturer's instructions.
• Tape and waterproofing: Using EPDM tape or gaskets for waterproofing at the drilled areas is important.
• Panel fixing elements: Mid and end clamps and end pieces must be complete.

On a sandwich panel, the load-bearing capacity of the lower sheet and the insulation material determines the connection type. During installation, safe walkways and the use of a lifeline on the roof are mandatory for occupational safety.

On large roofs, panel handling, crane and scaffolding use during installation are included in the occupational health and safety plan. Protecting the installation crew against falls is a priority; also, no work is done on wet and slippery surfaces.
