What is the CT Power Export Limiter?
CT Power Export Limiter is an accessory used together with TommaTech On-Grid inverters and is used to limit the power exported from the inverters. No other technical values are given in the product information; its name suggests that it works with CT (current transformer) measurement.
A limiter generally comes into play in installations where the portion of production exported to the grid must be kept below a certain value. Which inverter models, which CT ratios and which settings are supported is given in the product's datasheet and in the inverter manual.
What projects is it suitable for?
Export power limiting comes up in these cases:
- Connection conditions in which the power that can be fed to the grid is restricted
- Rooftop installations with limited transformer or line capacity
- Projects where production is meant to be used in the building first and only limited surplus exported
Points to watch during installation
To limit exported power, the measurement point must be chosen correctly; if the CT is not placed on the building's grid entry line, the limiting does not work as expected. The CT's direction, phase sequence and cable connection must be checked during installation. The limit value is entered in the inverter settings and must be set according to the value in the project specification. Settings should be tested and recorded during commissioning. After installation, the behavior of the limiter should be monitored under load changes (such as air conditioners and pumps), and the value readjusted if necessary.
Use in Antalya and Solar Nexo support
In Antalya, production is highest in the summer months, and consumption may be low on weekdays at some businesses; in that case, limiting the power exported to the grid can become important. Connection conditions and permits vary by project and require a separate assessment.
Solar Nexo verifies that the power export limiter suits your inverter model and handles the CT direction and connection during installation. The product's datasheet can be downloaded from this page.
