Solar DC cable
Solar cables carry DC current from the solar panel to the inverter input. They are specially manufactured because they are exposed to sun, rain and temperature changes outdoors for years. The catalog includes products sold as DC red and black, in 4, 6 and 10 mm cross-sections, 1 meter at a time.
How to choose the cross-section
- Current: The current of the panel string must stay below the cable's carrying capacity.
- Distance: Over long distances, a thicker cross-section may be needed to reduce voltage drop.
- Laying method: In-conduit, open-air and on-roof laying change the temperature effect.
Color and polarity
The red cable is generally used for the positive line and the black cable for the negative line. This reduces the risk of connection errors and makes maintenance easier.
Points to note
- The connector and the cable cross-section must be compatible.
- The cable must be laid secured and so that it does not touch sharp edges.
- Cables must not be left loose on the roof.
In Antalya
In summer, the roof surface temperature can be high; in cable selection, a product made for this temperature should be preferred.
