What is the TommaTech 170 Wp Flexible Solar Panel?
TommaTech 170 Wp Flexible Solar Panel (model TT-FLEX-170) is a flexible panel that carries more cells than its 110 Wp sibling. Its 6 x 8 cell layout gives higher power and higher voltage values.

The panel is made with an ETFE surface, prism texture and IBC (back-contact) cell structure; it can bend up to 30 degrees and is 2 mm thick. It is stated to be more resistant than conventional panels to power loss caused by breakage and corrosion from bending or humid environments.
What projects is it suitable for?
It can be used on boat decks with more surface area, on caravan and camper roofs, or on curved storage hatches. Since the Vmp value is 29.4 V, the Voc voltage limit of 34.6 V and the current of 5.90 A are taken into account when choosing a charge controller.
Use in Antalya and Solar Nexo support
In Antalya, long and intense summer sunshine lets the flexible panel produce charge throughout the day; since the Pmax temperature coefficient is -0.29 %/°C, output drops slightly on hot surfaces. For marina and coastal use, regular checks of the connections are recommended because of salt and humidity. While the 110 Wp model of the same series gives 4 V Vmp with 8 x 18.8 cells, this model reaches a Vmp of 6 V thanks to its 8 x 29.4 cells. Because the voltage is higher, the charge controller and battery bank are chosen differently than for the 110 Wp model.
