Short answer

Solar Nexo is a solar company in Antalya based in Kepez. This reference project is a 3.3 kW on-grid self-consumption system installed on a home with a tiled roof. Panels mounted with hooks under the tiles and a grid-connected inverter cover the home's daytime consumption; surplus energy is fed to the grid.

Project summary

This reference project is a small 3.3 kW self-consumption system installed on a home with a tiled roof. The roof type determines the mounting detail, and the small scale determines the simplified application framework. Location and date information is not given on this page.

System components

  • Power: 3.3 kW (taken as panel power)
  • Mounting: hook-type structure for a tiled roof
  • Panel array: photovoltaic panels on the home's roof
  • Inverter: grid-connected inverter
  • Metering: bidirectional meter

Why was this system designed this way?

Mounting on a tiled roof

On a tiled roof, the panels are carried by stainless steel or aluminium hooks fixed to the roof rafters from under the tiles. The hook position is chosen so as not to break the tiles' watertightness; broken tiles are replaced. Because the hooks are fixed to the rafters, the load is transferred directly to the load-bearing system. In addition, the roof tilt and orientation on tiled roofs are mostly fixed; for this reason, production may deviate slightly from the optimum tilt.

Self-consumption logic

For 3.3 kWp, the PVGIS reference gives a daily average production potential of about 15 kWh. If the household is not at home during the day, most of the production goes to the grid. For this reason, shifting loads such as laundry, dishwashing and air conditioning to daytime increases self-consumption.

Regulatory context

For facilities connected to a residential subscription, net metering is done monthly and no production or sales limit applies, whatever the installed power (EPDK Board Decision 14531, 05.05.2026). For rooftop systems up to 25 kW there is a simplified application procedure. Surplus energy is valued at the single-rate active energy unit price. The subscription type of this home is not stated.

Permit and structure

In planned areas, solar systems built for a building's own needs are not subject to a building permit; however, the load-bearing system must not be affected, permission must be obtained from the authority and the consent of the unit owners must be secured (Zoning Regulation Art. 59/2).

The right equipment for a small system

In single-phase homes, a single-phase inverter in the 3.3 kW class is suitable; if the inverter is positioned not on the roof but in a shaded, ventilated indoor space or under a shelter, its life is extended. The requirement that equipment be manufactured within the last five years is also a condition of the unlicensed generation regulation (02.04.2026 text, Art. 37/6).

Estimated production

In the PVGIS calculation (European Commission JRC, PVGIS 5.3) for Antalya city centre conditions, assuming optimum tilt and 14% system losses, the annual specific yield is 1,656 kWh/kWp. With the PVGIS reference for Antalya city centre conditions, this means a theoretical production potential of about 5,465 kWh/year for 3.3 kW of power.

PeriodSpecific yield (kWh/kWp)Estimated production (kWh)
January (lowest)99327
July (highest)168554
Annual1,6565,465

Monthly theoretical potential for 3.3 kWp: January 327 kWh, July 554 kWh. Because the orientation and tilt of a tiled roof are fixed, actual production may deviate from these values. The "3.3 kW" value in the table is taken as panel power. These values are a theoretical PVGIS calculation; actual production varies with roof or land orientation, tilt and shading.

Installation and commissioning process

During the site survey, the roof type, rafter spacing, orientation and shading are assessed. In the project, the panel layout and hook plan are prepared; the application is made when required. During installation, the tiles' watertightness is preserved; commissioning takes place after acceptance. Maintenance and 24/7 technical support continue.

For a similar system

It is suitable for detached houses and small homes with tiled roofs. It is recommended to clarify your roof orientation and shading situation with a site survey.

Questions about this project

How are solar panels mounted on a tiled roof?

The panels are carried by hooks fixed to the roof rafters from under the tiles. The hooks are placed so as not to break the tiles' watertightness. The load is transferred directly to the load-bearing system; the roof orientation and tilt are mostly fixed. After installation the roof is checked and, if necessary, the check under the tiles is repeated for watertightness. Exact values are clarified during the free site survey with project-specific data, and this estimate is updated.

How many kWh does a 3.3 kW system produce per year?

For Antalya city centre conditions, using the PVGIS reference value of 1,656 kWh/kWp, a theoretical potential of about 5,465 kWh/year is calculated. Actual production varies with roof orientation, tilt and shading. This value is a theoretical upper limit; the fixed orientation and tilt of a tiled roof can move real production a few percentage points away from the optimum.

What happens to surplus electricity produced at home?

With a residential subscription, net metering is done monthly and no production or sales limit applies. Surplus energy is valued at the single-rate active energy unit price, which is lower than the total charge on the bill. Conditions may change. To reduce surplus production, it makes sense to shift loads such as laundry, dishwashing and air conditioning to daytime.

Estimated yields are theoretical values based on PVGIS 5.3 data (EU Joint Research Centre); actual output depends on roof orientation, tilt, shading and temperature.
