Short answer

Solar Nexo is a solar company in Antalya based in Kepez. This reference project is a 680 kW ground-mounted on-grid solar power plant. It operates with a ground-mounted panel array, grid-connected inverters and a monitoring system; this mid-sized plant stands out for its earthing and connection engineering.

Project summary

This reference project is a 680 kW on-grid plant built on open land. In mid-sized ground-mounted plants, earthing, protection and maintenance access are the defining design topics. Location and date information is not given on this page.

System components

  • Power: 680 kW (taken as panel power)
  • Panel array: ground-mounted photovoltaic panels
  • Inverters: grid-connected inverters
  • Connection: protection relays and bidirectional metering
  • Site: earthing network, perimeter safety, monitoring

Why was this system designed this way?

Design balance at mid scale

680 kW is too much power for a single inverter and too little for a large number of inverters. Usually several medium-power inverters are chosen; this limits the effect of a fault and keeps cable distances short. Panel rows are laid out according to the slope of the land and the sun angle.

Earthing and lightning protection

On open land, lightning risk differs from that on a roof; tall structures attract lightning. The structure, inverters and boards are connected to the earthing network with an equipotential busbar. Surge arresters are used on the DC and AC sides. Soil resistivity measurement is necessary for the design of the earthing network.

Grid connection

The plant is connected to the grid connection point with protection relays, an isolator and a bidirectional meter. The distance to the connection point determines cable loss and investment.

Regulatory context

According to the 02.04.2026 text of the unlicensed generation regulation, main equipment such as panels and inverters must have been manufactured within the last five years. If the paid production limit is exceeded in surplus energy, the excess amount is treated as subject to a system usage fee (EPDK Board Decision 14531, 05.05.2026). The status of this project is not stated; current conditions should be confirmed before applying.

Maintenance access

A passage is left between panel rows for vehicles or cleaning equipment. Grass and vegetation control is carried out regularly.

Growth and monitoring

In mid-sized ground-mounted plants, inverter and cable capacity can be left with a margin from the start for adding an extra array later; however, additional capacity requires a new application and compliance with the regulation. Inverter-level monitoring and alarms show in which array section the problem lies without going to the site.

Estimated production

In the PVGIS calculation (European Commission JRC, PVGIS 5.3) for Antalya city centre conditions, assuming optimum tilt and 14% system losses, the annual specific yield is 1,656 kWh/kWp. With the PVGIS reference for Antalya city centre conditions, this means a theoretical production potential of about 1,126,080 kWh/year for 680 kW of power.

PeriodSpecific yield (kWh/kWp)Estimated production (kWh)
January (lowest)9967,320
July (highest)168114,240
Annual1,6561,126,080

Monthly theoretical potential for 680 kWp: January 67,320 kWh, July 114,240 kWh. On open land, dust and vegetation shade can affect production. The "680 kW" value in the table is taken as panel power. These values are a theoretical PVGIS calculation; actual production varies with roof or land orientation, tilt and shading.

Installation and commissioning process

During the site survey, the land, soil, shading and distance to the connection point are assessed. In the project, the panel layout, earthing and protection scheme are prepared; the necessary applications are made. During installation, the structure, panels and cabling are completed; commissioning takes place after acceptance. The maintenance plan and 24/7 technical support continue.

For a similar system

It is suitable for businesses whose roofs are unsuitable and for investors with land. The distance to the grid connection point and the soil structure should be assessed early.

Questions about this project

How much does a 680 kW ground-mounted plant produce per year?

For Antalya city centre conditions, using the PVGIS reference value of 1,656 kWh/kWp, a theoretical potential of about 1,126,080 kWh/year is calculated. Actual production varies with orientation, tilt, shading and soiling. This value is a theoretical upper limit; ground dust and shade from surrounding vegetation can affect real production. Exact values are clarified during the free site survey with project-specific data, and this estimate is updated.

Why is earthing important in a ground-mounted plant?

On open land, a tall structure can attract lightning. The earthing network and surge arresters protect equipment and people; soil resistivity measurement determines the design of the network. In addition, the cable trays under the arrays and the inverter boards are also included in the earthing scope. Exact values are clarified during the free site survey with project-specific data, and this estimate is updated.

Is there an age rule for main equipment?

Yes. According to the 02.04.2026 text of the unlicensed generation regulation, main equipment such as panels and inverters must have been manufactured within the last five years. An application cannot be made with old or second-hand equipment. This rule also applies to batteries; for this reason, manufacturing date documents are checked in advance when procuring equipment.

Estimated yields are theoretical values based on PVGIS 5.3 data (EU Joint Research Centre); actual output depends on roof orientation, tilt, shading and temperature.
